Garden Design
I have been designing gardens for eighteen years, for a wide range of budgets from small inner-city spaces where every inch counts, to large gardens set in open countryside.
A garden has to do more than look good. It should be an extension of your home, somewhere to escape to, relax and take pleasure from.
A key starting point is the relationship between the house and the garden, how you move between the two, and how each space will be used through the year.
Increasing biodiversity and creating opportunities for wildlife, with pollen and nectar rich planting for bees, butterflies and other insects, alongside habitat creation and providing access to water.
Materials are researched to work with the character of the surrounding buildings, favouring reclaimed and locally sourced options where they suit the design

I take you through the design process step by step, exploring ideas and discussing budget openly as we go, so you always know what a decision will cost before it is made.

Show Gardens
I completed my first show garden in 2012. Since then I have been awarded five RHS Gold Medals, an RHS Best in Show, two Best in Category awards and an award for Best Construction, and I have designed two RHS feature gardens alongside them.
A show garden has a week to make its case, and then it is gone. Wherever possible mine are lifted and relocated to a permanent site after the show, where the planting can do what it was designed to do and mature. That means designing for two lives at once.
A show garden is also a powerful way to deliver a message, or to promote a brand or a good cause. The starting point is always a simple, strong concept an idea clear enough to run through the whole garden, from the planting to the hard landscaping details and the choice of materials.
